Visual Reflections: Virtual Heritage Posters – Between Tradition and Immersion

VR Exhibition by Prof. Laze Tripkov
Curators: Lenka Sýkorová
Venue: MC Gallery, New York
Dates: 13 December 2024 – 02 January 2025

This interdisciplinary exhibition invites visitors to explore the space where tradition and innovation converge, presenting a transformative comparative study between posters on the wall and posters in Virtual Reality.

Developed as part of Prof. Laze Tripkov’s PhD research at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University, the project introduces the concept of the “Virtual Poster” – a groundbreaking synthesis of Virtual Reality, poster art, and the historic Macedonian Glagolitic script.

Through this dual-format presentation, the exhibition engages audiences to experience and contrast the tactile immediacy of traditional poster design with the immersive dynamics of its virtual counterpart. By bridging the physical and the digital, it examines how these two forms transform artistic perception, interaction, and engagement.

The juxtaposition highlights the evolving nature of graphic design, revealing how Virtual Reality redefines not only the medium itself but also the ways in which we perceive, experience, and respond to visual art.

By placing traditional posters alongside their VR reinterpretations, the exhibition opens a dialogue between tangible and digital realities, inviting reflection on the coexistence of both. Audience participation and feedback are essential to this ongoing study, helping to affirm the transformative potential of the Virtual Poster while mapping new trajectories for art, design, and technology in an interconnected world.
