Virtual Reconstruction of the “Great Mother” – A New Chapter in Heritage Experience

The project focuses on the digital reconstruction of the Neolithic artifact “Great Mother” from the Tumba Madžari site, bringing this iconic symbol of Macedonia’s prehistoric heritage to life through an interactive Virtual Reality (VR) experience.

Running from February to November, the project follows a carefully structured process: from research and data collection, through 3D scanning and visual reconstruction, to the development of a VR application, installation of the equipment, and public presentation at the Archaeological Museum of Skopje.

A small interdisciplinary team-including an archaeologist, a digital designer, a VR developer, and a project coordinator – works alongside interns to ensure both quality and cost-effectiveness. This collaborative approach makes it possible to balance scientific accuracy, creative design, and efficient use of resources, highlighting how cultural heritage can be revitalized through innovation.

The upcoming event will present this groundbreaking effort, inviting the public to experience the “Great Mother” in an immersive VR environment, reconnecting ancient history with contemporary technology.
